With the adoration of one of the oldest materials in the world, Soilbaker, the Korean handmade ceramics brand, was established in 2015. The story of Soilbaker begins at the intersection of food and design. Hye Rin Yang, the founder of Soilbaker, studied product design at Parsons and worked at the renowned Eleven Madison Park; later, she studied Culinary Arts at the Institute of Culinary Education. As such, she always think about the balance between culinary and design, and how they ought to serve one another - soilbaker designs ceramics with consideration for aesthetic pleasure and the comfort of use. Ceramics are fired using traditional techniques upon the age-old craftsmanship of Yeoju, South Korea, where ceramics have been made for over a thousand years. Human hands are involed in every step in our production, each piece is hand-finished, and as such, imperfect and one-of-a-kind.
